An owl caused a ruckus by removing rings at a wedding – and ‘refused to return for SEVEN hours’.
Callum Russell, 29, was at an artists’ convention at Kirkstall Abbey in England while a wedding was taking place on July 20.
He noticed that the bird – which was supposed to act as a ring bearer and deliver wedding couples – flew away.
The owl disappeared atop the Abbey and landed on a windowsill – much to the dismay of the wedding party and their 50 guests.
Its professional keeper tried desperately to lure the bird with a piece of chicken – to no avail.
Callum – who was attending an art convention at the Abbey – caught the drama on camera.
The wedding continued with the other birds on display and the tawny owl is said to have returned at 8pm – some seven hours after flying off at around 1pm.
Onlooker Callum, a professional artist, from Bradford, West Yorkshire, said: “It looked like they were about to make the rings but the owl got away.
“He flew to the top of the abbey and stayed there all night.
“I had a stand on the other side of the museum.
“It was my lunch time and I decided to complain and then I saw the owl at the top of the abbey which was getting a lot of attention.
“It was a professional who was trying to seduce her with a piece of chicken.
“It was a mix between destruction for them [the couple] but I was in hysterics and the handler was so professional about everything.
“I left at 5pm and spoke to the bird keeper.
“The owl came back with the rings at the bottom.”
