We were trapped in a stuffy ‘sauna’ plane – we were so hot we couldn’t breathe

This incident may redefine the “air fryer”.

Passengers struggled to breathe and suffered panic attacks after their stranded “sauna” plane was held for two hours before being canceled completely.

The Boeing 777 crash occurred on July 25 after the air conditioning system malfunctioned on Thai Airways flight TG 917, which was scheduled to fly from London to Bangkok at 9:25 p.m., ViralPress reported.

As a result, passengers were trapped in the real winged steam room while crew members tried to fix the problem.

“People were stuck on the plane and couldn’t get out,” complained Warawalan Maksaen, 26, a student at the University of Exeter who was trapped on board the plane. “We were hot and we couldn’t breathe. At least in a sauna, you can leave when you want.

“It was like a form of torture.”

Another passenger claimed the conditions were so harsh that flyers began to sweat profusely, with one even suffering a panic attack.

To make matters worse, no food or water was provided during this time, according to Maksaen. After two hours, a flight attendant provided water in the galley area and opened the door to let in fresh air.

Unfortunately, there were no technicians available due to the airport’s curfew, so passengers were forced off the plane at 11pm after being unnecessarily stuck on board the hot plane.

While the flight was rescheduled for the next day, it was out of the pan and on fire as passengers were given two unenviable choices.

“We could either sleep at the airport until the rescheduled flight or take a bus to find a hotel,” Maksaen lamented. “I and many other passengers went to the bus station to wait for transport to a hotel.

“There was no help from the airline and the last group of passengers waited aimlessly until the last three buses arrived at 2am.”

If that wasn’t enough of an odyssey, the hotel the airline offered only had eight rooms available. While families took priority, Maksaen – who was traveling alone – was left to find her own accommodation.

Thankfully, she was familiar with the area and managed to find a hotel – at 3am

However, when she boarded the flight again the following day at 3:45 p.m., that plane’s engine would not start, so passengers had to wait inside the plane before disembarking again. They were finally allowed to board the plane again at 18:49

“I was very disappointed with Thai Airways. Their service was terrible and I sent a complaint email after the incident,” said Maksaen. “I received an offer of compensation, either cash or a discount voucher for my next flight, which I chose as cash, as I no longer wish to fly with this airline.”
