He might be the most eligible bachelor in the world and I went on a date with him.
Artist Marcin Glod has been posting flyers around the Big Apple – and cities like Ibiza, Zurich and Vienna – saying he’s “looking for the perfect woman”.
The poster features a black-and-white image of the 30-year-old painter’s handsome face — and has generated a staggering 5,000 responses from women around the world, including 400 in NYC alone.
“I’m honestly looking for a boyfriend – this is no joke. I’m tired of the single scene and I can’t wait to find the right partner,” declares the flyer.
“I work and travel a lot, so it’s not that easy to meet; it’s not that easy to manage girls,” Glod confided to me over an orange, non-alcoholic cocktail at tapas bar Excuse My French on the Lower East Side.
Despite his thousands of admirers, the 6-foot-1 Poland-based, Austria-based artist has only been on three dates in the nearly three months since his campaign began.
“All the dates were very interesting and relaxed… I asked the girls to show me nice places in their cities and it was like a private tour. They were all very fun and cool,” he recalls in a thick German accent.
A dinner date in Berlin tickled Glodi’s desire the most.
“I found it [her] the energy and atmosphere is quite interesting and exciting – especially because we both work in the creative industry and are both self-employed,” he said, but noted that sparks haven’t exactly flown between the two, who have no plans to date again.
The flyers contain a QR code which, when scanned, takes admirers to a website prompting them to “apply for a date”.
The app asks them their name, what city they live in, how old they are, what they do for work and what kind of first date they would enjoy.
Dressed in neutral slacks, a casual floral button-down, green heart-shaped sunglasses and a baseball cap – with the words “money, ego, fame” crossed out and the word “people” intact – Glod was anything but less than a perfect gentleman.
“Tell me your story,” he said with a smile and laugh as we sat down for a 7 p.m. reservation, for which he arrived six minutes early by walking from the Moxy Hotel, where he was staying for the weekend while exploring the galleries of art. around the Big Apple.
During our hour-long meeting, Glod sweetly inquired about my appetite, opened every door, and insisted on taking the check.
He kept a respectful, if not overly cautious, distance, knowing that I have a boyfriend.
He explained that he has been single for a year since ending a two-year relationship with a green-eyed, brunette Austrian girl, partly because “it was too serious” for him at the time.
“We started living together and then we got a dog, and it was like a family — and it was just a lot of family stuff, like staying home and being with the dog every day,” he explained.
But now he is ready to settle down.
I thought [the fliers] it would be a fun and entertaining way [to look for a girlfriend] … And this can also lead to new friendships and contacts from different cities,” he said.
Glod said he is looking forward to going on a date with a woman who answered the flyers in Vienna this weekend.
Ms. The right doesn’t have to look a certain way or be from a certain country, but American girls have a good chance.
“In the US, I think the cowgirl looks very sexy.”
In general, his “perfect woman” should be “smart, ambitious and funny.
“Hopefully I’ll meet the perfect lady who’s so cool and we’re alive, and then maybe in a year or so we’ll get married and have two kids,” he said.
I wish Glod all the best in his search, but I’ll stick with my boyfriend.
