New York couple who charged guests $333 for ‘non-traditional things’ they did at their TikTok wedding

The New York City couple who sparked a viral controversy for charging hundreds of guests to attend their wedding are continuing to post about their unconventional wedding on social media.

The newlyweds have taken to TikTok to recount the “non-traditional things we did at our wedding”, with their seventh installment yesterday, which explained: “Our wedding guests started our wedding day with audio meditation.”

Bronx residents Nova and Reemo Styles, who married in June 2023 in St. Patrick’s Cathedral, followed by a reception at the World Trade Center, made headlines after it was revealed they asked their guests to fundraise to celebrate.

Other aspects of their Big Day they highlighted were having guests wear denim, shutting down Fifth Avenue for their first dance, and dressing their bridal party in colorful custom-made outfits.

Last month, the couple told The Post that they made the decision to charge attendees after realizing that hosting a wedding in NYC would set them back a minimum of $150,000.

Of the 350 invited to their 12-hour soiree, 60 attended, and they saved $70,000, which they will eventually use to start a family.

Although some TikTokers are calling the couple “smart”, others are criticizing their frugal ways.

“What a joke! These people are cheapskates! They want bling, but are too cheap to pay for it. They expect their friends to pay for their wedding! “I would cut off my friendship with anyone who tried that,” Pennymurdaugh said.

The couple responded to the comment saying: “Penny, thanks for your guesses! It’s crazy to think 60 tickets could pay for the 12 hour wedding day we had!! DEF it didn’t and we paid for our entire wedding ourselves!” !”
