A homeowner has described the “hilarious” moment she found a flock of sheep walking on her roof.
Kristen Jackson, 28, was left “shocked” after discovering the four farm animals running around on top of her four-bed property on Thursday morning.
She had been in bed with her partner, Daniel Payne, 33, when they heard a loud noise echoing through their home, in Whitworth, Lancs., at around 8am.
And fearing a burglar had broken into their detached home, Kristen rushed outside to see what the strange commotion was all about.
But she “burst out laughing” when she realized a small herd of sheep was walking up and down the roof, which is about 9 meters high.
The marketing executive said: “I heard the noises and thought, what’s that? Surely it can’t be a bird. Is it a cat or something? It looked a lot bigger.
“So I said, “I’ve got to go and see what’s on the roof.” You think the worst—is somebody in the house? is somebody coming in?
“I quickly jumped out of bed and went out the back door, and I went to the back garden area and I looked up. And I said, ‘Oh my god, there’s sheep on the roof.’
“I burst out laughing because it was kind of funny.”
She added: “I ran inside and grabbed my phone and basically said to my partner, ‘You’ve got to go out and see this.’
“He came out and came back and was shocked. He just started laughing at the fact that we had four sheep in the house, and they were just looking at us.”
Kristen explained that their house, which they moved into just over a year ago and is currently undergoing renovations, is partially sunken into a hill.
And it had allowed the curious cattle to climb onto the roof after slipping through a fence earlier in the morning.
She said: “We live in Whitworth and back onto the mountains so we tend to see sheep and cows wandering up and down the road if they’ve been let loose.
“It is a surprise that they came down the road, through the fence and onto the roof.
“But within five to ten minutes, as we scared them off, they left.”
Kristen said she would enforce the property’s boundaries to make sure no more animals get on top of the house.
She added: “In the future, we will definitely make a change to the fence to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
