Steve Roth, CEO and co-founder of Vornado Realty Trust, one of New York City’s largest commercial landlords — and the developer of 220 Central Park South on Billionaires’ Row — has listed his Hamptons condo for sale.
Roth and his wife, Broadway producer Daryl Roth, are asking $19.5 million for the charming compound, Curbed first reported.
Roth is the real estate industry titan behind 220 Central Park South on Billionaires’ Row, designed by Robert AM Stern Architects, where in 2019 hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin spent $239.96 million on a four-story apartment, making it the most expensive mansion ever sold. in the USA This is a record that remains to this day.
Roth has long been known as the figure who carefully curated the building, inviting wealthy residents to buy homes there and even tapping fashion designer Zac Posen — a friend of Roth’s son from the Broadway world. Jordan – to design the building’s staff uniforms, as documented on Wall. Street Journal reporter Katherine Clarke’s 2023 book, Billionaire’s Row. But it was Griffin’s acquisition that really made him stand out.
“The deal made 220 Central Park South the darling of the Billionaires and Roth the king of the corridor,” Clarke writes.
The couple bought the 5,300-square-foot East Hampton mansion for $3.5 million in 1994, according to Curbed.
The classic, shingled residence—which sits a block from the ocean and just up the street from the iconic Gray Gardens estate—offers four bedrooms, five bathrooms, a separate guest studio and a pool.
Set on 1.35 acres, the main house offers a variety of spaces for entertaining – including a large living room, fitted with a fireplace, with exposed beams and a high ceiling; a formal dining room; and a spacious kitchen with an eating island and two ovens.
All bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom, and there is also a mirrored in-house gym and a large roof deck off one of the bedrooms.
On the grounds, there is lush landscaping and ample lawn – as well as the pool, which is surrounded by an open-air paved area and a partially covered alfresco space.
The charming pool home offers further space for relaxing by the water, and Georgica Beach is “just moments away,” notes the listing, which is hosted by James Petrie and Ed Petrie, both of Compass .
