Even More Updates Coming to Spirit Airlines After Big Seat Policy Change: ‘A New Era’

Spirit Airlines is flying high after unveiling its new seating policy.

The low-cost carrier that has become synonymous with low-cost air travel is known for charging passengers for almost every perk — but that’s about to change.

Spirit announced Tuesday that there will be “new premium offers” starting in August 2024, including free Wi-Fi, a free checked bag and even free meals.

This follows another announcement that other lower-priced options will now offer business class seats with a guaranteed blocked middle seat.

The new fares and service categories are called Go, Go Savvy, Go Comfy and Go Big and will be available to book in August. 16 with flights starting from August. 27.

All four options allow the flexibility of no change or cancellation fees. Here’s what each includes:

• “GOING” is basically Spirit Airlines as it is now. It offers the “greatest affordability,” including only one surcharge seat to purchase checked bags, standard seat selection, Wi-Fi, food and beverage.
• “Go to mind” comes with the choice of a carry-on or a checked bag included and standard seat selection when booking.
• “go easy” is a brand new option that offers a seat with standard legroom and a guaranteed blocked middle seat, one carry-on bag, one checked bag, priority boarding, plus a snack and soft drink.
• “Go Big” is the highest level option and includes one of the airline’s large front seats – a wider seat with extra legroom, additional seat cushions and no middle seat – one carry-on bag, one carry-on bag checked in, priority check-in and boarding, check-in via Wi-Fi streaming, and food and beverages, including alcoholic beverages.
