TV personalities list historic Sag Harbor mansion: ‘It belongs to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination’

A restored 19th-century home in Sag Harbor has hit the market for $5.9 million.

The sellers are television personalities turned developers Ricky Paul Goldin and Gretta Monahan. The power couple had bought the property, at 110 Division St., for $1.45 million.

“This is before the assassination of Abraham Lincoln,” Goldin said of Gimme Shelter, which has appeared on “Guiding Light,” “All My Children” and “The Bold and the Beautiful.” At one point, the house was slated to become a Sag Harbor post office. However, locals objected to the plan – as the owner had destroyed the interior.

“It was very sad. All the beautiful woodwork inside was destroyed,” Goldin told Gimme. “We were able to buy the house for $1.45 million because it was in a terrible state of disrepair. There was a small dirt floor, space in the basement and all the interiors and fireplaces were destroyed.”

It took two years, Goldin said, to get city approvals for plans created by architect Anthony Vermandois. A $3 million renovation followed, which included elevating the building, expanding its footprint and adding a swimming pool.

New owners can still add a roof deck, Goldin said.

Today, the 5,000-square-foot home, which sits on 0.18 acres, comes with six bedrooms and six and a half bathrooms. Details include an open chef’s kitchen with a dining area and a library.

“We did everything in our power to preserve the integrity of the original house,” Goldin said. This includes the restoration of a dozen vintage stained glass windows.

“We have completely restored the house. It was a dual use house – residential and commercial. A Sag Harbor family doctor operated there for years,” added Goldin.

The front parlor could still be used as a medical office, he added.

“It turned out so nice, that we thought of living in it ourselves. But our kids go to school on the Upper West Side, and we’re lucky enough to have a cottage in Sag Harbor that our kids love. We have done many homes in the Hamptons and love them all. But this is closer to our hearts,” he said.

The listing agents are Nicole and Zachary Tunick of Douglas Elliman.
